My Reflection & Questions for YOU
I
write because I enjoy writing. I have always written letters, little poems,
lists, thoughts, dreams and ideas. I love to write cards to friends. I fill
journals and notebooks. I write on scraps of paper and the backs of receipts.
In books I write my thoughts and questions in the margins. I always dreamed of
writing and publishing books. I thought I would write children’s books. I dreamed
of publishing a book of poems that would celebrate the beauty and peace of
nature. I had a knowing, deep down, that I would write a book about healing,
innocence and my journey to wholeness after sexual abuse. This last one is the
dream that has been realized. I published “Restored Innocence” in December
2020. I wrote that book over the course of several years, in the midst of
raising 4 boys. Taking the step of publishing, was huge and it transformed me. It
was a risk, an investment and brought its own challenges. I’m so grateful for
that experience and I hope to publish more books in the future.
In
the past 5 years I have been increasingly intentional about making time to
write in my weekly schedule. I revived a blog I started back in 2013 and began
using that platform to share my current writing. This past year, 2025, I met my
goal of posting every week.
Writing
and sharing my writing with others are very different disciplines with
different motives, insecurities and rewards. I’ve grown a lot as a writer in
these past years of being intentional to both write and share what I’m writing.
As
this year begins, I am reflecting on that growth and celebrating the
accomplishment of writing and posting on my blog for 52 consecutive weeks! I’m taking time to think of what inspires me
to write and what I want to do currently. I’m praying and listening to God for
what He would have me do.
While
I don’t have clarity yet as to what my writing and posting will be for the
coming year, I do sense that it is going to change. I feel drawn to a new pace
of writing.
As
I’ve thought of my blog and looked back over the posts of these past years, I
have some questions I want to ask my readers. That’s YOU! If you are reading this – I’d love to hear
from you:
· What do you
enjoy about my writing?
· Do you check
this blog regularly? Do you read when you see a post on Facebook?
· Can you share
any impact my writing has had on you?
· Is there a
specific type of post you enjoy?
I
would love to hear any feedback or suggestions. You can answer one or all of
these questions – or none!
Thank
you for reading! For those who have left
comments to past posts, thank you so much!
I am so encouraged by your comments and testimonies.
