Promising

 


God didn’t only make the promises in the Bible
He is promising still

Those promises recorded in the book  -  They are for today
Alive and active
As true today and for the future
As the day they were penned on parchment

Still -  He is promising
His faithfulness extends through all of time
At the same time
There is no beginning or end to His faithfulness
In promise keeping
In promise making
Like a rainbow that covers all of time
He speak the Life and Hope of PROMISE
Over all of time
Promise Maker
Promise Keeper

God of Promise
Whisper to me the promises for today
Paint my skies with the colors of your love and delight
Set me free into hope
And I will soar the heights of PROMISES to come

 

I think that most often, when we speak of God being a “Keeper of His promises” we are thinking of past promises. Testimonies come to mind of how God has rescued us, healed us, comforted us and led us – Just as He promised in His word. These testimonies are evidence of His ability and faithfulness to keep the promises He has made. While testimonies certainly do increase our faith and remind us of God’s power and love towards us, they often speak of the past.

Faith is a unseen substance of what has not yet been witnessed! Faith for God to keep His promises can also pull us into the future. Ours is a covenant God. Faithfulness is part of His unchanging nature. When we remember this, we are drawn into the future with faith that He will continue to keep His promises to us.

When we set aside time and focus to truly hear the heart and words of God over our lives, we hear His promises to us. He is still promising to love, protect, guide, comfort, provide and heal us! He is speaking promises over our future and leading us into it! 

While it is faith-building to rehearse the places in our lives where we have seen God’s promises come to pass in our lives, faith is truly activated when we believe for God’s faithfulness to make and keep promises in our future.

That is true faith!

Levels of Healing - ? -

  I have recently gained new understanding of the process of healing from emotional wounding. I am passionate about the ability we all have to heal from trauma and deep pain. We need not be limited and defined by it forever. I have found that the process of healing is intentional and not merely a matter of time or “moving on”. To heal one must face the betrayal, trauma event or relationship that caused the pain and walk through the process of identifying the impact it had on them. One must grieve and be comforted. Often working through anger and disappointment is required in order to forgive and come to a place of peace. I have found that it is possible to experience freedom from the anger, shame and deep sorrow that is often the result of trauma or deep emotional wounding. I have experienced my own journey of healing from physical and sexual abuse. I have also worked through relational tensions, betrayal and loss. Freedom from Urgency
